Meet Our Principal

Irazema Lopez

iralopez@dallasisd.org

As a dedicated educator and mentor with a passion for empowering students through innovative educational programs, I bring a unique perspective to our learning community. My siblings and I grew up.in West Dallas and Oak Cliff and spent several years as migrant workers while attending Dallas ISD. Despite the challenges, persevered and went on to graduate from the School of Health Professions at Townview. I later received my undergraduate and graduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. My husband and I enjoy our time with our son discovering new adventures and visiting my parents in Oak Cliff.

After spending 10 years in the corporate sector, where I honed my skills in implementing systems, pilot programs, and leading teams through collaboration, I made the transition to the education sector. I began teaching at Maria Moreno Elementary STEAM Academy in 2008 and took part in the innovation committee to provide students with opportunities beyond the classroom. I introduced chess which proved to be a successful addition to the school's program. We placed top three in the district from 2017-2020.

I continued my educational career at Eddie Bernice Johnson STEM Academy and was co-chair of the innovation committee that was successfully transformed in 2021. After my time at EBJ, I served as an assistant principal at Hogg New Tech Elementary, implementing initiatives to promote academic success among students that led to four distinctions. Throughout my career, my dedication to providing students with mentoring, innovation and building their confidence has been a hallmark of my approach.

As a principal, I am committed to fostering a culture where students are encouraged to explore and develop skills to become global learners. I believe in the power of collaboration and building strong partnerships with families, teachers, and the community to ensure that every student has the resources and support they need to succeed.

"The most important thing is to try to inspire people so that they can be great at whatever they want." -Kobe Bryant
